ABOUT ME
Radoslav Bimbalov was born in 1973 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, graduated the English Language School there and the University of National and World Economy in Sofia. He is engaged in mass communications, founder of “The Smarts Group” – award winning advertising group. He is also a frequent guest on national media platforms as an analyst of political, social & cultural issues, a popular speaker in big conference events.
His debut novel “Me, the Maniac” (Hermes 1999) was ranked among the best sellers but it took him 23 years to feel ready to publish again. As he claims – he was too young to be a writer and needed more time to practice.
His second book was a collection of short stories “Shut up” (Ciela 2022) – it became a bestseller for Ciela and was in the shortlist of the main literary awards in Bulgaria (Peroto, Helikon, Portal Kultura), received the 3rd prize of the “Radichkov National Short Story Awards”.
His third book, the novel “Ectsasis” (Ciela 2023), was warmly accepted both by readers and critics – it was in the shortlist of all big literary awards in Bulgaria (Peroto, Helikon, Portal Kultura, Golden Lion, European Union Literary Awards) and was nominated as one of the 6 novels for “Novel of the Year” award. “Ecstasis” will appear in Italian (Wojtek Edizioni) in the beginning of 2025.
His new novel “You, my likeness” (Ciela 2024) appeared in September and became an immediate best-seller – ranked in top 5 of all major bookstores in the country.
Radoslav Bimbalov lives in Sofia with his wife and their 7 years old daughter.
